Here you'll find vintage and second hand bags from Gucci: shoulder bags, top handle bags, clutches and wallets in GG Supreme canvas, leather and bamboo. Every piece is one of a kind, checked for authenticity by experts and described with an honest condition grade.
Italian leather craft since 1921
Guccio Gucci founded the house in Florence in 1921. He had seen luxury luggage in London and Paris and wanted to combine that quality with Tuscan leather. Many details still come from the world of equestrian sport: the metal Horsebit and the green-red-green Web stripe, which recalls saddle girths. The double G became the brand's signature and adorns canvas, leather and clasps.
Materials at a glance
GG Supreme is coated canvas with the GG pattern, tough and easy to care for. GG canvas is a woven jacquard fabric with the logo woven in, usually with leather details. Guccissima is leather with an embossed GG pattern, Microguccissima the finer version. The GG Marmont comes in quilted Matelassé leather. On top of that there's smooth and grained calfskin, as well as handles in real bamboo.
Popular models
The Bamboo Bag with its handle of bent bamboo has been around since 1947. The Jackie, named after Jackie Kennedy, is a soft shoulder bag with a piston clasp. The GG Marmont in quilted leather, the Dionysus with its tiger-head clasp and the Horsebit 1955 are among the most sought-after models of recent years. From earlier decades come the Boston, Abbey, Sukey and Princy, which you'll often find with us in GG canvas. Our guide Old Gucci bag models gives you an overview.
Vintage or newer?
Gucci bags from the 1970s to the 1990s often differ from newer models in their labels, lining and hardware. From the 2000s, bags in GG canvas and Guccissima leather dominated the range, and since 2015 more playful designs with embroidery and prints have been added. Which era you like is a matter of taste: vintage pieces often have a calmer design, newer models more details.
Which Gucci suits you?
For everyday use, bags in GG Supreme canvas are ideal because they cope well with rain and rubbing. If you like the classics, the Bamboo, Jackie and Horsebit are models with a long history. For evenings, small bags such as the Marmont Mini or a clutch are a good choice. Shoulder bags such as the Abbey, Sukey and hobo bags offer lots of room for a laptop or shopping. If you're not sure which size will work, compare the dimensions in the description with a bag you already own. That gives you a good feel for what will fit.
What to look for when buying
On canvas bags, check the edges and the leather on the handles and straps; on Bamboo models, check the handle for cracks. With Matelassé leather, it's worth looking at the corners and the quilting seams. Gucci bags have a leather tag inside with a serial number, whose format has changed over the years. The serial number on its own is no proof of authenticity; what matters is the workmanship. You'll find care tips in Caring for your designer bag.
